Can my child play for SGSA?
Players who live within Shakopee School District 720's enrollment boundary (whether they're enrolled at Shakopee schools or not) and are in good standing with SGSA can play for our association.
When does registration open?
Player registration typically opens early-February. For the 2025 Spring Season, it opens on Monday, February 3rd.
How long does the season run?
The season begins in late April and runs through mid-July for teams who qualify for state and national tournaments.
Can my child play with their friends?
Players at the 8U level can submit friend requests by emailing shakopeegirlssoftball@gmail.com. 10U+ players cannot indicate a friend request. Friend requests are not guaranteed, but every effort is made to accommodate these requests.
My child is very athletic and advanced, can they play at a higher level of play?
Players are only allowed to play up under certain circumstances. Please see the SGSA Play Up Policy.
What level do I register my player for?
Levels of play are determined by your child's DOB.
What equipment does my child need?
- Jersey (provided by SGSA)
- Red belt (provided by SGSA)
- Red socks (provided by SGSA)
- Black pants with belt loops (purchased by player)
- Red, black, or white helmet (purchased by player)
- Bat (purchased by player)
- Glove (purchased by player)
- Fielder's Mask (purchased by player)
Where and when are practices?
Times and locations (Shakopee High School Field House, Neil Johnson Softball Compex) of practices vary. After your player is rostered, you will receive communications from your coach via the Crossbar app.
I am worried about paying for softball, are scholarships available?
